I had a bunch of old clothes because I couldn’t afford to buy new ones. My clothes were still decent quality. I had brands like Madewell, Anthropologie, Free People, and J. Crew hanging in my closet.
I took a few photos of my clothes and posted them on Poshmark. I had no idea what I was doing. It took about a month and I finally made my first sale! I was excited to see the extra $40 hit my account (remember, that would’ve been half a day’s work in Starbucks hours).
My first few years selling on Poshmark were nothing spectacular…
In 2016, I made $417

What was I doing wrong?
I wasted time on tasks that weren’t generating sales
I didn’t know what was important to focus on and what was unnecessary. I wasted so much time on pointless tasks instead of taking steps that would actually drive sales.
I didn’t know how to attract buyers
I didn’t understand the importance of a well crafted title and description—let alone what to write. I looked at other seller’s listings for inspiration (not realizing they weren’t attracting buyers either).
I listened to a lot of bad Poshmark advice
It cost me an ungodly amount of time going through all the “tips & tricks” online. It took a while to figure out what advice actually worked and what was complete garbage.

People who own quality clothing brands
Higher quality brands sell for more on Poshmark. You don’t need luxury “designer” brands. Anything from mid-tier brands (Anthropologie, Everlane, Spanx, etc.) to higher end brands (Tory Burch, Theory, Reformation, etc.) are worth selling on Poshmark!
People whose clothes are in good condition
An ideal candidate for this course has clothes in overall good condition, with minor flaws here and there.
Who is this course NOT for?
People with cheap, fast fashion brands
If your closet primarily consists of brands like Shein, Forever21, Fashion Nova, and Old Navy, this course is not for you. These brands do not resell for much, so it’s not worth the time and effort it would take you to list them on the app.
People who wear their clothes into the ground
If your clothes have a lot of wear and tear, this course is not for you. Buyers avoid items with excessive rips, holes, stains, etc. A few minor defects are fine, but I wouldn’t recommend this course if most of your clothes are in poor condition.
